The rail trip to Berchtesgaden

We decided to go off on our own for the day and purchased tickets at the rail station for the 40 minute ride to the village of Berchtesgaden where we would see a working salt mine.

The railway system in Germany always runs on time and the cars are well-maintained. The train winds through the countryside and offers breathtaking views from the windows. It's almost as if a path was carved only wide enough for the train, leaving most of the countryside untouched.
